Mr & Mrs Donnell
In 2009, Walkers purchased one of the oldest buildings in Scotter with over 1/3rd of an acre of land.
The cottage was built around 1860 and is one of the original few cottages in Scotter. We presume it would have originally been a small holding.
The land was then split into 3 plots. At the front of the plot we built a pair of semi detached houses which are pictured on the new build section.
The original cottage was then stripped down to the bare walls, the roof was taken off and the major overhaul began!
By this time the cottage was in a semi derelict state and had suffered from the Earthquake in 2008, the chimney had even fallen into the bedroom. The cottage was then stabilised and we began the project of rebuilding and substantially extending the original cottage.
Around this time Mr & Mrs Donnell moved into the area and had the foresight to be able to visualise how stunning this old cottage could be!
Over the next 5 months our many teams of tradesmen worked long hours to have this ready for Mr & Mrs Donnell to move into.
The cottage was rebuilt in reclaimed bricks and roof tiles to mantain its original character. Many of the original features were kept, including the old beams in the lounge.
We decorated throughout, installed a Wentworth kitchen, Villeroy & Boch bathrooms and laid the lawn!
Mr & Mrs Donnell were thrilled with the end result and we thank them for allowing us to use their home as a case study.
